ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
NwSSU-SAP (Special Academic Program) is operated by Northwest Samar State University. Northwest Samar State University is a public university governed by the Government in the Philippines, located in Calbayog, with an extension campus in San Jorge, Samar. It is mandated to provide advanced education, higher technological, and professional instruction and training in trade, fishery, agriculture, science, education, commerce, engineering, forestry, nautical courses, and other related fields.
Additionally, it is required to conduct research and extension services, as well as provide progressive leadership in its specialized areas. Its main campus is situated in Calbayog. In 1948, Calbayog High School was established in Calbayog City. On June 14, 1998, Republic Act 8655 led to the renaming of Samar National Agricultural School to Samar State College of Agriculture and Fisheries, which now includes the San Jorge, Samar campus. Finally, on October 14, 2009, under Republic Act No. 9719, it became Northwest Samar State University.
Northwest Samar State University is registered with WHED (World Higher Education Database), operated by the International Association of Universities (IAU) under UNESCO. Since this organization lists over 20,000 universities from 196 countries worldwide, it is recognized globally, including in the United States.
